Lawn Tips
Mowing
There are some points to follow when mowing:
Cut the lawn on the mowers highest setting.
-
Cut once a week if possible.
-
Cutting less than once a week especially in the growing season can shock the grass, which can result in the grass dying off and bare patches from forming leading to weeds and moss infestation.
-
If the grass is long, don't cut it down too much at once. Mow twice.
-
Remove cuttings from lawn as leaving them encourages weeds and makes the lawn more susceptible to diseases
Watering
Watering the lawn is very important, especially in dry spells.
As a rule, heavy and infrequent watering of the lawn is more beneficial than little and often. Heavy and infrequent watering makes grass healthier, which in turn encourages a strong root system and prevents brown and dry patches from occurring.
The best time of day to water your lawn is early morning or evening, not in the heat of the day.
